my glucose (fasting) test was 97 – is that pre-diabetic?

i got an a1c test and it was normal (the last blood test) but i’m just wondering since my glucose was on the higher end of normal. i periodically check myself and i fluctuate from the early 70s (sometimes late 60s) to 80s to 90s….
and the fasting test was taken early in the morning and i hear that you can sometimes have higher blood sugar in the morning -
i’m doing them (tests) partly because i had a high glucose reading once (111) and i’m part cherokee which is high risk for diabetes. better safe than sorry i guess-
yes buffallo but i normally check my blood sugar on/off and frequently it’s in 70s and 80s so i think it tends to be higher int he mornings because of that phenomenon.

Does anyone know how to lower a dogs blood glucose at home without insulin?

All vets in the area are closed until monday. My older dog became very lethargic tonight and has been drinking/urinating excessively. After she vomited a few times tonight, I decided to take her blood glucose and found it is alarmingly high. Is there anything I can do to help her before Monday? I’ve read mixed reports on using cinnamon to bring it down… any experience with this? Thanks everyone

Confused about diabetes test?

Ok so I just got back from the doctors office to pick up my test results. My Hemoglobin A1c test showed that im within range at 5.5… It shows that <5.7% of total Hgb and that <5.7 is non diabetic. This tells me I am not diabetic. However it says that 5.7-6.4 is an increased risk for diabetes and that anything equal to 6.5 or greater is consistent with diabetes. So basically 5.5 is pretty darn close to the edge here. Now Im concerned about how big of a difference these numbers really are and how far I REALLY am from having an increased risk for diabetes. What can be done to get this number lower? I would ask the doctor but why pay for another visit when I might get answers online..Thank you

is it normal to get a low reading occasionally on your test strip?

i got 62 today on my fasting reading at 8am. I don’t test myself only once in a awhile. the background of my issue is that i got a high reading on a routine blood test (110) and then after that i got a1c tests done 6 months apart and both times they were 5.3 (normal). and then i got fasting glucose tests done and they were normal also around 92.

i have tested myself periodically to just check and make sure i’m not having any issues and it’s always been in the normal range of 70-100 so now wiith this test this morning it made me wonder if it was a mistake or if occassionally you can have a low blood sugar due to hormones, etc. (i’m just done with my period). i tested myself again 3 hours later and i was 77.
i’m not a diabetic yet but i’m trying to prevent that just in case i might have a tendency. my only high risk is that i’m part native american otherwise i have normal weight and participate in sports.
also since i had a high reading that one time – how can i get a low low reading another time? i mean aren’t you either high blood sugar or low blood sugar? i’m confused….
